Best Summer MakeUp Tips

Summer is the hottest session, but also the most glamorous — however, melting makeup, smeared eyeliner, and sticky lipstick are not at its best. Top makeup artists were asked to confess their best tips for keeping makeup fresh and steady, even when the summer heat is working against you.

The days are longer… the temperature at its highest level… the sun is stronger…

Keeping my makeup in summer away from all that sweat and crease was a difficult task, until I learned three beauty tips that have really helped me and will surely help you as well.

1. Start with the proper base.

Caring for your skin is just as important as applying the makeup to it. Starting with an oil-free moisturiser would be great, says celebrity makeup artist Fiona Stiles, adding that an oil-free foundation formula would help as well. If cannot decide what type of moisturiser works best for your skin type, use our dermatologist-advised guide.

2. Invest in a Primer.

It only takes a few seconds to apply a primer, which goes on after moisturiser, but before applying face makeup. Primers are surely an advantage in summer, says a New York City-based makeup artist. They don’t feel at all like a second heavy layer, and they really keep makeup in place.

3. Bronze.

Bronzer brightens your eye look, whitens your teeth — every woman looks better with a little warmth added to their skin, says makeup artist Troy. To keep the face fresh and natural, he advices applying bronzer only at the high points of your face, where the sun naturally touches you: forehead, cheekbones, chin, and nose. Otherwise, you might look like being baked! Powder bronzers are easy to apply and you can choose among varying shades. You can mix them for the most authentic-looking results. You can also brush  bronzer onto your neck and earlobes, especially if you have short hair or wear a ponytail.

Always remember to summer-proof your makeup!
